Anyone who knows me knows I absolutely love the mountains so much so that on a resent trip back from visiting a sick relative in Las Vegas we came back through the Colorado Rockies, that and the Arizona Highways will tear up your vehicle but we don’t need to go into that now do we, but I do have stories.
God’s word tells us in Psalm 18:2 The Lord is our rock, our fortress our deliverer our strength in whom we can trust. He is our shield and the strength of our salvation and our stronghold.
Do you ever have dreams about a home in the mountains, what comes to mind when you do? Maybe a rustic log cabin with a wood stove in the middle of the floor or maybe something a little less rustic with modern ammenities and a big deck with a fireplace overlooking the mountains or even something grander with soaring ceilings and huge rock fireplaces. Maybe you already live there, and you see it everyday.
The Bible describes God Himself as our refuge and fortress, in Him we make our dwelling place and our home, it is in Him that we live and move and have our identity, there is not a more secure place to be.
Scripture also gives us hope about our home to come in Heaven. John 14:2-3 Jesus told His disciples, “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am”
It’s difficult to imagine what Heaven is going to be like, God’s word holds some clues, 1 Corinthians 2:9 says, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those that love Him”
We can trust our Lord that Heaven will be all that we desire and more, he makes this promise to give us hope.
Do you Love Him?
Take a moment and thank Him for both your physical and spiritual home and be secure in his love and strength.
Have a wonderful day as you walk with Jesus today.
